I'm Najam — a film producer, cinematographer, creative storyteller and photographer based in London, UK, with a multicultural & inclusive perspective on storytelling, shaped by living and working across different continents and sectors. My work focuses on human stories, where I research, film & create content for businesses, NGOs, indie producers, theatre companies, & research institutions that want authentic, cinematic, & inclusive storytelling across various digital media platforms.

PAF Airmen Academy

This documentary explores the first unified training model introduced at the Pakistan Air Force Airmen Academy at Korangi Creek, offering an inside look at how the institution is shaping the next generation of the Air Force. Produced under A Shooting Najam, I developed and pitched the original concept and served as the Producing Director. Over three months, I led a small crew to document the academy’s training ecosystem, capturing the daily lives of cadets as well as the various institutions and systems of this new training model.

UNICEF water program for Afghan refugees

While working with White Rice, I contributed to a number of documentary projects focused on development and humanitarian initiatives across Pakistan. One of these projects involved travelling to the northern and northwestern regions of the country, near the Afghan border, to document water provision systems established by UNICEF in remote communities.

Dir. Lèna-Awa Sall
Written and directed by Lèna-Awa Sall, Lumiere is a story of a young man who struggles with authority and a system that suppresses individuality and intellectual freedom. This film was developed as a visually driven piece. Working as the Cinematographer and Director of Photography, my focus was on building a controlled visual environment that relied heavily on silhouettes, shadow play and lighting to convey mood and emotion.

The Bear Who Went to War

This short documentary explores the making of The Bear Who Went to War, a theatre production inspired by the true story of Wojtek, a Syrian brown bear who served alongside Polish soldiers during the Second World War. The film features behind-the-scenes moments and interviews with the creative team, including playwright Alan Pollock, director Kirstie Davis and members of the cast. I directed, produced and edited the documentary, overseeing the interviews, visual storytelling and final edit.

This documentary explores the world’s first Typhoid Conjugate Vaccination campaign, documenting a landmark public health initiative. Produced with the support of PHC Global and the World Health Organisation, the film captures the scale, logistics and human impact of the campaign on the ground. I led the production of the documentary over six months, overseeing the project from research through field shoots and interviews, and ultimately editing the film myself to shape the final narrative and visual storytelling.

This promotional documentary explores the PAF Yacht Club, capturing its environment, facilities, and community through a cinematic lens. Produced as a solo project under A Shooting Najam, I wrote, filmed and edited the film independently, developing the visual narrative and managing every stage of the production from concept through to the final edit.

Water Scarcity Karachi - documentary

This documentary explores the complex issue of water scarcity in Karachi, examining the city’s water sources, storage and sanitation infrastructure, the role of leadership and institutions, and the lived experiences of communities facing daily water shortages. I led the production of the film. Researching, pitching, producing and directing the project while documenting initiatives by UNICEF, World Health Organisation, aimed at improving water access and supporting communities most affected by the crisis.

Written by Rolake Omogbemi Olayemi, Fix is a visual-driven film that follows Lalude, a meticulous artist who finds comfort in her orderly routine. Working as the Cinematographer and Director of Photography, my role was to support the story through purely visual means, as the film unfolds without dialogue. Shot inside a real artist’s studio, the cinematography focuses on observing Lalude within her creative environment, using framing, movement and pacing to communicate her emotional state.

It's the Tism

It’s the Tism is a visually expressive short film exploring themes of neurodivergence, sensory overload and the experience of masking in everyday life. For this project, I was the writer, director and Editor, developing the visual language of the film and shaping its rhythm through the edit, using stylised cinematography and pacing to translate the character’s internal sensory experience onto the screen.

Coventry University researchers
This short interview-based film explores the impact of generative AI tools on creative industries, featuring conversations with researchers from Coventry University about the opportunities and challenges these technologies present. For this project, I directed, filmed and edited the piece, combining original interview footage with generative AI visuals and curated stock footage to create a cohesive and engaging exploration of how emerging AI tools can be understood and used within creative practice.

Academic documentary
This academic documentary explores the lack of representation of women in Pakistani sports, examining the cultural, institutional and media factors that contribute to this disparity. Working with a small crew, we travelled to interview female athletes across different sports, alongside conversations with figures in the media landscape and sports leadership to understand the barriers and possible solutions for improving representation. I was involved in the production, direction and editing of the film.

Explainer film on Imagineer's youth creative-industries programme. Now used in active funding pitches. Capturing a youth programme built around creativity, skills, and access to the arts. The film follows participants across workshops and placements, focusing on the people, process, and impact behind the programme, and has since been used to support ongoing funding and outreach.
A bit about my work.
My work is shaped by observation, atmosphere, and real environments. I’m drawn to stories that feel human and visually grounded, whether that’s a documentary in remote communities, digital content, a media production, a branded campaign, or a narrative film.
Alongside independent film and digital media production, I’ve collaborated with organisations including UNICEF, the World Health Organisation, Pakistan Air Force, Coventry University, and Imagineer Productions, creating films across public health, arts, education, and culture.
